Topic say it all so i dont know what more to add. Forum activety is close to zero. And thats a hugh tell about the game. Matchmaking is totally broken, why do i have to wait 8 min to get on a team that are not even close to win?

I want to play veteran battle to keep on grinding but i have to wait up to 10 min after ever battle to start a new one, do i wait 10 min or do i go do something else or play something else instead? ofc i go do something else.

Im very disapointed.

We’re far from dead. Forum activity most certainly fluctuates, but that by no means reflects the traffic of the game. Matchmaking, while not perfect and still being assessed, is not broken. When the pool is limited it works however it is able to without populating the game with AI.

A 10 minute plus wait on Veteran is by no means common, the wait on both Recruit and/or Veteran should be (and normally is) a lot shorter. Do keep in mind that the gametype & fleet you’re searching plays a large role. If you’re experiencing abnormal queue times, rotate the gametype, as well as your fleet. Keeping the gametype on «Any» is the best way to go in almost any instance.

I’d recommend hopping on our Discord to connect with folks there. You can find it here.

A large update is coming to both PC and PS4 very soon, and with that expect a larger pool to come to both. In the meantime, some people may be waiting for that to drop, which is expected. But it’ll be here very, very soon.

Having any issues and need some assistance? Our support team would be more than happy to help! You can reach out to them here!

Dunno what you’re talking about. I just started this week and it seems decent for me. Recruit is (understandably, given that it’s low-tier newbie queue) fairly empty, but only to the point that it takes maybe 2 minutes for me to get a match during decent hours. The longest I’ve had to wait is

8min when I played at 6 AM before work.

Veteran is fine. Queues at

2-3min during low hours and anywhere from

1min to instant matches during prime hours, which in my experience is about the same as you get from MWO, WoT, WoWS, WT, and other similar games. Granted, I think that hard queue splitting is a bad idea and we’d be better off with a more dynamic single queue, but I can also understand (given the lack of T2 officer briefings) why there isn’t. In either case, Steam launch will bolster player numbers.

Nima2018

A couple of min cueues is not my biggest problem, i just finish a game and now i have to wait almost 9 min for the next one. that is n0ot cool, sure i could play a recruit game in the time but i dont have a recruit ship i want to grind so im a bit stuck here. Why cant i just play what i want to play?

comandermatt

You can but you dont get the same amount of xp or credits

The reason the forum tends to be lacking in activity is mainly due to the Community Discord taking in most of the playerbase. As for que times, are you refering to Battle Bonus? Because you do not need to wait for that to cool down before starting up another match- all that is is what it says, a bonus. If you really are having legitimately long ques, like Miguell said, try playing «any» mode to find the first match available.

As for recruit, there are not many players there because I assume most of the people who know about the game are waiting to get it till steam release. Since you get out of recruit so fast and no new players are replacing the veterans, there are not many players there to support the que.

Either way, the game (on PC at least) is far from dead. Just played a few matches today in veteran with less than 20 second que times, completely new players each time. If the discord is anything to go by, there are hundreds if not thousands of people there who are active on a daily basis. I would recomend checking it out

I came back after a year of not playing and the game is literally a baron wasteland. I also noticed how you can no longer farm ash in fields and now they want you to decon stuff from raids and crafted items with 18 hour cool downs. LUL. Even saying in the chat this game is dead = roughly 3 or 4 people making soy boy remarks of how wrong I am. LOL ok then tell me why the community is completely gone? I have to ask what is the point of making it so pay to win now when it’s literally a SINGLE PLAYER GAME LOL!! No one even spars, no one PVPs because it’s horrendous. How gone do you devs have to be mentally to have forum post after forum post telling you how incompetent you are and still not fix a single thing haha!?

Your only palpable complaint is the removal of ash farming? I don’t think we’re missing much not having you around.

Also, there’s always a lull in the weeks leading up to a major update, where people aren’t working toward gear that will soon be obsolete. Popping in for 1 day right before a level cap increase and rage quitting over the lack of some mindless, skill-less ash farm shows a clear lack of any sort of care for or knowledge of the game.

Also, most people assume anyone who uses the term «soy boy» unironically is automatically an idiot. Just so you know for the future. This isn’t Fortnite.

I’ll probably regret asking this, but what does «soy boy» mean?

It’s something young, insecure far-right males use to insult guys they perceive as not masculine enough. For instance, if you don’t get pissed off at a video game and whine about it on their forum to show the game company how virile you are, you might be a soy boy.

you ve left for a long time n now complain that the game is dead? lol
every other is wrong n you r right? now who s the soy boy?
wheree did you saw that the community is gone? have you checking everyday the new posts
or the replys to threads? since you joined you posted 18 times n you r complaining about the community?
so egoistic so hilarious!
i agree with you that the game has gone so much pay to win while we have already
payed the asking price to buy content that is not given to us yet,
some of us including me have bought the expensive package just to support the company,
taking garbagge in return.
have you ever thought that people have enough of spars etc or they r bored
of the endles grinding repeatable content for nothing n they dont like to do it anymore?
ofc we r less players than before, so they had to merge the servers, but let the
regular players say! you got bored n left or left for any personal reason so you cant judge
the rest of us if we want to do the same things again n again!
in Evernight we have heavy activity of new players every day n a great number is using aria
i dont care if they are f2p, they r new, n asking about the package prices all the time
so if you wanna play just paly the game n leave the names(soy boy) out of it.
what makes you think you r something better?

Of course lotro has a pretty low population now compared to ESO or GW2. but please, guys. consider how hold this game is already, and how huge and complex it is now. Lotro has a stable population of players now and actually the activity is still pretty high (I can speak about Evernight and Belegaer now). If you want to find a deserted game install Age of Conan, make a character on server fury and andmire Lotro again

The game isn’t dead. You don’t know how to play it and find people to have fun with. Farming ash? LOL. Learn to play the dailys but I think you haven’t completed 50% of mordor yet. So it’s better for you to get back to candy crush.

LOL, only last night I came across a multi-page rant about how the game was dead and in «Maintenance Mode» — posted in 2014 on a gaming website.

Game might not be dead but it definetly is dying and SSG arent helping to stop it. 64 bit client aint happening no matter what devs might be saying because it woulnt be worth the effort. World chat is dead. Ok i might not been loging in most active times, but LFF tells every 2 min from the same person dont look promising. They supposed publisher Daybreak arent doing any actual «publishing», by which i mean marketing and deal itself seems very fishy . No new players means no stable income(lootboxes dont count). They should have made new game engine years ago. Players are leaving because of constant crapy things SSG does (Isengard mount, p2w tactics, increased pointless grind to stear players towards store) and pathethic exscuses about lootboxes. Least thing they should have done is to make VIP more worthwhile. Also curency cap is nonsense. Where other games tries to reduce grind, Lotro enforces. How shallow must content be to restricted how fast its done with caps and grind ?

This kind of post is really stupid.
I mean, either you are wrong and the game isn’t dead at all — in which case the stupidity ought to be obvious.
Or you are right and the game really is dead — in which case nobody will care about what you write since they aren’t playing the game nor reading the forums.

If the game is in a good spot for you, then get back to playing it and leave the critical threads to those who want to complain.

To be devil’s advocate, the player base has been in steady decline for quite some time. The OP isn’t entirely incorrect. And bringing up the age of a game isn’t the best argument for a declining population. WoW is older and in August made a record $161 million. The age of a game has nothing to do with it.

And even more comical are guys who try to shut opponents up with ridicolous orders like ‘If the game is in a good spot for you, then get back to playing it’. Yes, normal people must play the game 24/7 without visiting forums because you said so.

Age of game is very important if you spend at least a minute trying to think. WoW is also declining. Money made just shows good in-game store and overhyped expansion sale. Wowers come to new addon hoping it’s very good then leave complaining. Every cycle less people involved.

The current Nerfing and Changes, and even the nerfing of Scrolls etc coming up will leave new comers and players just getting to Mordor, with useless content with no rewards.

The Sliver’s, Key , Scrolls, Starlits etc from completing content in Mordor to do Dailies will be either all gone or reduced, so you already got an upward Battle, while the first raiders who farmed ASH and sitting with 100K are slap happy.

The Drop’s and items should have just been left alone IMO.

The New Content U23, should just had the New Keys and New Currency and then Stuck to, without touching the previous rewards and content.

I don’t know of any other Game which starts removing things, just for you to buy from Store.

No one said that. But thank you for proving my point and getting triggered so easily.

Eh? I’m not going anywhere.

Actually I shall simply post my pleasure, on our kin having started and running a regular lowbie night, currently set at L36, do what you feel like solo with weekly or biweekly nights for group play and instances, at how busy places are. Rivendell is still very much a hub, Ost Guruth and Harloeg were bustling. I went to deed trolls in Harloeg and there were two other groups of low level toons. Not osme passing L115 with some missing deeds, but folks levellling through slowly and carefully. I overcooked a pull near Thorenhad and a passing Minstrel sorted that out. Yes, a res deed, but said Minstrel was also grouped and en route to Nan Toenaeth.

Bree is still Bree, Evendim and Esteldin were busy recently too. My experience does not bear out the game dying, perhaps the opposite. Worth pointing out that many of the groups noted have not been kinship groups judging by the lack of any kinship name and indeed on several times I have been asked to group up in a chance encounter.

Túl van tolva. But yeah, community is a term not applicable in this game since HD.

I played another MMO near 15 years ago. At some point almost a decade ago a player came in and said «Damn this game is dead» in the chat. Instantly some 30 players attacked them verbally at various levels of disdain and disgust. The supposed offender stayed logged on for an hour and every few minutes upon discovery posted their thoughts in the chat. Unknown to many in defense, this player had once been a well known respected player who was in part the glue for that community. A player who had RL issues with family members health and came back at a later date. A player who maintained a website and Vent for the game and server they played on. A player who was in daily contact with the Devs. A player who made videos that at some point became endorsed and used in this game as official videos for the brand. So he was no troll. His heart was in this game and it became broken not only by the state of the game but the mentality of the remaining players. Those remaining became bitter and often chased away any new few who came into that world. It was really a sad situation all around and the «This game will never die fans were the worst part of the experience»

Six weeks later the company who published the game made an announcement the servers would be shutdown. Stating the game no longer supported a viable community in player numbers or revenue. I was a player who watched this happen from the periphery and not the player mentioned. I left that game in 2007 and came here.

When I see thread after thread created saying the game is dead or dying. What I see is a personal view expressed based on a personal experience. A personal view doesn’t make it fact nor does it make it non factual. However to see the same players posting the same objections does say something. It’s like they are drawn to such threads because the notion of living in denial of the possibilty is better than facing the facts. What the objectionist are really saying is, I don’t want that notion in my head even if it is true. So ya maybe it isn’t dying or dead for the objectionist because well that’s what denial does. Maybe the objectionist are having fun but it doesn’t matter if those few are the only remaining players. What does matter is are they enough to keep a game open.

When I see a player who says this game is great it will last for years, that may be their view and desire. It doesn’t matter one bit what the opinion or desire is. What matters is are they willing to back it up and keep the game open.

When I see a company who develops a game, time and time again, frustrate its long standing player base one sub section at a time. Are they caring enough about what matters to keep the game open?

So here we are after a decade. Player numbers are down. No one can contest that and be credible. SSG tries and keeps trying. No one can contest that and be credible. Is it enough?

«That what is explicitly two, can at the same time be implicitly one.»
